Learning To Say No, When You Usually Say Yes

Great damage is done to you if you say Yes when actually you want to say No. During a lifetime, we come across incidences in the day to day life where a critical situation arises and we wrongly say Yes instead of No. This is about the analysis of all circumstances telling and teaching us why do we say Yes, how should we say No and most importantly, what are the benefits of telling No.

Who Is At Fault: India, Pakistan, Or Both?

India-Pakistan relation’s issue is a very complex subject and to summarise it in a 180-page book needs great skill. This interesting book ‘India Vs Pakistan: Why Can’t We Just Be Friends?’ written by Husain Haqqani caught all my attention. I also got an opportunity to present its review to my fellow members of the Senior Citizenship Club. Following their enthusiastic response to my talk, I now have this great urge to share the review with my blog readers as well.

I shall try by introducing the author, telling about different wars, what leaders of India, Pakistan and other nations tell and finally the conclusion.

The Author: Hussain Haqqani

Hussain Haqqani is a Pakistani, who is a former Pakistani Ambassador to the US. Not only that, he was also an advisor to four Pakistani Prime Ministers including Late Benazir Bhutto. The author is currently the Director for South and Central Asia at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC. The authenticity of his writing increases because he is an acad…

Dawood Ibrahim - A Journey From Dongri To Karachi, Via Dubai

One of the recent off-bit topics I’ve read, this one book about ‘Mumbai Mafia’ has been the most interesting, well-researched and well-written. Here is an excerpt from Dawood Ibrahim's journey from “Dongri to Dubai”, and the six decades of Mumbai mafia.

Mind Management – A Book Review

While alive, we feel the life to be full of problems and troubles. We remain stressed around even trivial issues. We keep searching for the problem-solving methods. Here is one answer.

5 Minutes To Stress Relief

I am happy to address my readers once again  with a very important subject of day-to-day problems: Stress.
Stress is a force that strains and deforms. People, events and circumstances take over you, and create stress. It is a physical expression of emotional insult. Emotions like Fear, Guilt, Shame, Anger, Worry, Guilt and Doubt lead to stress. That practically covers every normal, routine emotion. Then, how can we deal with stress?

Out Of The Box Thinking

Creative genius Swami Vivekananda gave guidance to the youth of the world and showed the light to all. Mr A R K Sharma, a Gold medalist in Science and Electronics and Telecom Engineering, wrote this book – Out Of The Box Thinking – telling about how to become a successful person, businessman or monk by Swami Vivekananda's way.

Out-of-Box thinking is the way of solving problems by looking at them from an unexpected perspective. It implies that we think differently, unconventionally. It involves discarding the past experience, leaving behind traditional modes of thought and discarding the preconceived notions.

How To Develop Mindfulness

Book Review: Art of Power by Thich Nhat Hanh
Part – III How to develop mindfulness
We think that if we can obtain a certain thing, we will be happy. But when we get them, we continue to crave and suffer.Fame, sex, power and wealth are the four kinds of bait that have a hook. If you are motivated by any of the desire, your destiny is suffering. To love each other does not mean we sit and look at each other. It means we look in the same direction.Do not try to be someone else.

Mindfulness

Book Review: Art of Power by Thich Nhat Hanh
Part – I I  Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the energy of attention and capacity to be 100% present to what is happening within and around us, right here and right now.

Whatever you do, you do with your whole being.

Invest yourself entirely in the here and now, without running away from here and now.

Art of Power by Thich Nhat Hanh

Book Review: Art of Power by Thich Nhat Hanh
Part – I

Our society is founded on a very limited definition of power, namely wealth, professional success, fame, physical strength, military might and political control. My dear Friends, I suggest that there is another kind of power, a greater power: the power to be happy right in the present moment, free from addiction, fear, despair, discrimination, anger and ignorance. This power is a birthright of every human being, celebrated or unknown, rich or poor, strong or weak.

A Vietnamese Buddhist Zen master, poet, scholar and peace activist THICH NHAT HANH wrote this book in 2007 to enlighten us on this subject of power and tell us how true power comes from WITHIN. What we seek is what we already have. He walks to talk and to tell us "LET US HAVE THE COURAGE TO BEGIN THIS WITH OURSELVES." To bring happiness to others, we must be happy.

Freedom From The Known - Quick Review

I recently re-read this book 'FREEDOM FROM THE KNOWN' by J Krishnamurti edited by MARY LUTYENS.

I have gone through the details. I cannot summarize it for you, but as I have told you his thoughts regarding LOVE, now I will tell you some other ideas he told.

1. Seeking for security is inviting insecurity.

2. We human beings are what we have been for millions of years…
Colossally greedy,
Aggressive,
Jealous,
Anxious,
and despairing
with occasional flashes of joy and affection.
