Before I give details of the subject, I would love to define it. “Person” means a human individual being physically present. So “Personality” means the characteristics, qualities and nature of an individual person seen as a whole when we meet for the first time. This wholeness of character and nature as seen in an individual creates an aura - a mixture of external appearance, mannerisms and speech. Now, there are two aspects of individual presentation creating a personality - external look and aura -the facial expression that comes from within. Even though we are not talking of cosmetics and beauty parlour make-up, staying well dressed and pleasantly presentable is a must. This includes proper hair grooming, good oral hygiene, shaving the beard, dressing appropriately (dressing of proper fitting, maybe simple but washed and ironed) and last but not the least, the polished shining shoes. Now you are presentable, but the personality impressions are creations of the mental outlook.

While writing a book review on novel one has to be cautious in not telling the details, so that reader still needs to read the actual novel, on the same time they should find the basic details of the story in the review. Yes, I will do that. We Are Alive To Live Only is a story revolving around three young people in their twenties, namely Suhana from Kolkatta, Raahi from Surat and Joy from New Delhi. They meet and a novel is created in Mumbai. You have to read the novel to know how they become friends and how around ten years pass.

માંદગીમાં સારવાર અને મરણ વખતની ક્રિયાઓને લાગતું વસિયતનામું  મારી સાંઠ વર્ષની ઉંમરે મે મારી આત્મકથા લખેલી તેમાં મારી માંદગીની સારવાર અને મૃત્યુ પછીની વિધિઓ મારા પત્ની અને બાળકો જેમ કરશે તે મને મંજુર રહેશે-એવું વિધાન મે કર્યું હતું. હા, તે વાત હું હજીપણ એમની એમ જ સ્વીકારું જ છું પરંતુ, હવે દસ વર્ષ પછીના મારા વિચારોનો ખ્યાલ આવે એટલા પૂરતું આ પત્ર લખું છું.  મારી શારીરિક તકલીફોનો ઈલાજ કઈ રીતે કરાવવું તે બાબતે કમસેકમ મારા પોતાને લગતા કેટલાક ખ્યાલો મે નક્કી કર્યા છે, તેનું વિગતવાર વર્ણન હું કરીશ. જો બેભાન ન હોઉ અથવા કહો કે માનસિક રીતે નિર્ણયશક્તિ ગુમાવી ન ચુક્યો હોઉ તો, મારી ઉંમરને લગતી કોઈપણ માંદગીની કેવી-કેટલી અને ક્યાં સારવાર કરાવવી તેનો નિર્ણય હું લઈશ. પણ હું બોલીને કે બીજીરીતે કહી ન શકું એમ બને તો માર્ગદર્શક બને એ રીતે સારવારની વાતો કહીશ.  બેભાન અવસ્થા સાધારણ રીતે થતી નિદાન પ્રક્રિયાઓ દ્વારા રોગ સારવાર યોગ્ય છે કે કેમ તે જાણ્યા પછી-જો સારવારથી સારા થવાની ઓછી શક્યતાઓ હોય તો સારવાર નહીં લેવી ઘરે ફક્ત સ્નાન-ઝાડા-પેશાબ-ચોખ્ખાઈ વિગેરે કાળજી લેવી અથવા લેવડાવવી. દમણીયા હ

આપણે લગ્નને પવિત્ર બંધન માનીએ છીએ અને લગ્ન દ્વારા આપણે બે કુટુંબોનો સંબંધ બાંધીએ છીએ. ભાગીને દોડાદોડીમાં કરાતાં લગ્નને બાદ કરીએ તો લગ્ન એક ખૂબ વિધિપૂર્વક ભપકાથી ઘણા બધા સગાં-સંબંધીઓ અને મિત્રોની હાજરીમાં થતાં હોય છે. લગ્ન એક ધાર્મિક વિધિ છે – તેથી હિન્દુ, મુસ્લિમ, પારસી, કે ખ્રિસ્તી જેવા દરેક ધર્મોમાં વિધિ જુદી જુદી હોય છે. આ વિધનો અભ્યાસ અને જાણ રસ ધરાવતા લોકોને થાય તે માટે રસિકજને અને અભ્યાસી વ્યક્તિ એ શરૂથી અંત સુધી પરંપરાગત લગ્નવિધિ સાક્ષીભાવે જોવું જોઈએ. દરેક ધર્મમાં લગ્નવિધિ બે કે તેથી વધારે વ્યક્તિઓ જેને બ્રાહમણ, મુલ્લા, પંથકી, કે ફાધર દ્વારા ધર્મના શસ્ત્રોનો આધાર લઈ વાંચીને, જે તે ધર્મના ભગવાનની પ્રાર્થના કરી ભગવાનને હાજર માની પરસ્પરને પ્રતિજ્ઞાપૂર્વક ખાત્રી આપીને કરવામાં આવે છે – તો ચાલો, આપણે ખ્રિસ્તી ધર્મવિધિ જાણીએ.

Over time, I have learnt and practised being accountable and better-organised in day to day life. That makes me disciplined and presentable with honour – any time and every time. I maintain day to day diary for the last seven years recording all the events and emotions. Reading the contents of the 2018 year diary inspired me to write the statement of account presenting activities of 365 days of the year. Daily Routine I consider my day starting at night, 9.30 PM, when I go to bed. I get up around 2:00 to 3:00 AM. That’s when I do my reading and writing work until I fall asleep again. That gives me more than 2 to 3 hours of study every night. I do clinical practice as an ophthalmologist between 9.30 AM to 1:00 PM in the morning and 4.30 to 7:00 PM in the evening. Yes, after lunch, between 1.30 to 4:00 PM there is a compulsory sleep, the classic after siesta, for about two hours. Morning hours, between 7:00 to 9.30 AM are “no work” time, spent in getting ready, reading newspapers

We planned a week’s visit to an old-age home in Lonavala, in a group of ten from Bilimora between 7 and 14-Mar-2019. Dr. Pravin Gilitwala led the team and organised because he had been there numerous times. Dr. Bhavana Desai (my wife) and I were little uncertain about the venue and timetable there but agreed just to have a new experience altogether. To our surprise, everything turned out to be better than all we thought. We had a great time all in all! Kapol Sanatorium, Lonavala Just by the old Mumbai-Pune highway is situated this old-age home for fixed one week stay. Only old-age people above 60 years are invited to stay for a week starting every Thursday and ending the next Thursday, in a total number of hundred. There are AC and non-AC rooms available for fixed one week, at different rates. These are twin-sharing rooms charged at is Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 12,000 per week, based on individual preferences. During a candid chat with Prof. Dr Ashwin Desai in Surat one fine day, he asked me about the list of books I possess and I had no answer! I thought why not prepare an inventory, along with an article containing a brief description and their photographs. I also happened to read an article in Reader’s Digest around the same time about the set of books the lady author owned. She advised to keep books around - within reach and there were chances of your reading the book. She advocated to keep on purchasing the books, so that one day you may come out reading the precious collection you have already purchased at a sky-high expense. Let me describe them and I wish photos speak more.

While attending my niece Khushbu’s wedding (Dr Hirak Desai’s daughter) at a party plot in Valsad, my other niece Guddi (Mrunmayi Janak Desai) suddenly coined the phrase 'destination wedding'. My vocabulary evolved with a new phrase, with a special meaning. It is a special type of wedding hosted at a location, usually far away from home. Here, the guests reach the venue and stay for a couple of days with all the people involved in the wedding celebration. The hosts plan the wedding and send the invitation with the details of stay, events, dress code and explaining the rituals planned to be followed. Yes, this is the same conventional wedding we’ve always seen, but with creative ideas of enjoying, dancing, playing games and simultaneously conducting the wedding in an authentic manner. It is a bit costly affair for the hosts, but I’m sure they are prepared for it.

કાર્તિકેયના જન્મની વાત તારક નામ ના અસૂરે દાનવે દેવોને હરાવ્યા હતા. તેને મારવા માટે દેવોએ શું-કરવું તે વિચાર્યું તેને તારક ને મળેલા વરદાન મુજબ તેને ફક્ત નાનું બાળક દ્વારા બનેલું અને માર્ગદર્શિત લશ્કર જ મારી શકે એમ હોવાથી તેઓએ બ્રમ્હાનો સંપર્ક કર્યો. બ્રમ્હાના કહેવા મુજબ ફક્ત શિવ -પુરુષ દ્વારા ફક્ત એકલાથી પેદા થયેલ બાળક – ફક્ત ભગવાન શંકર જ આપી શકે ભગવાન શંકર ને મોહિત કરવા “કામ” ને મોકલ્યો પરંતુ શિવ તેને “ત્રીજી આંખ” ખોલી ને ભશ્મ બનાવી દીધો. ત્યારે તેમણે શક્તિ પાર્વતિ ને આજીજી કરી. પરંતુ આ ભગવાન શિવને પાર્વતિ મનાવી શક્તિ નથી. પરંતુ પછીથી દેવો અને પાર્વતિ ની વિનંતી ગ્રાહ્ય રાખી શિવ છ ચમકારા જેવા અગ્નિ રૂપે બીજ એટલે કે વીર્ય આપે છે તેથી કાર્તિકેય ને સ્કંધ (વીર્ય દ્વારા જીવીત) પણ કહે છે. આવા શક્તિશાળી અને ઉષ્ણ બીજને અગ્નિને દેવો આપે છે. અગ્નિ બીજને ગરમ હોવાથી સાચવી શક્તિ નથી, ત્યારે પવનને આપે છે. જે વાયુ- પવન ગંગામાં પધરાવે છે ત્યાં પાણી ઉકાળવા માંડે છે અને બારું ના જંગલમાં આ વીર્યમાથી આગ લગતાં,બચેલા અંગારામાથી છ બાળકો ઉદભવે છે. માં માટે રડતાં તડપતા છ બાળકો માંથી છ માથાવાળું એ
