અનાવિલ કુટુંબનું વાર્ષિક સ્નેહસંમેલન

ડુંગરી (તા. પારડી વાયા: ઉદવાડા) ગામે દયાળજી (ચુનીભાઈ) નાગરજી દેસાઈ પરિવાર તા. ૫-૬ અને ૭ ડિસેમ્બર, ૨૦૨૫ના ત્રણ દિવસ (શુક્ર-શનિ-રવિ) ભેગો થયો હતો. ૨૦૧૩થી લગભગ દર વર્ષે અનુકૂળતા મુજબ ડિસેમ્બર કે જાન્યુઆરીમાં આ પરિવારના સદસ્યો "કુમુદ ફાર્મ" ખાતે નિયમિત ભેગા મળી સ્નેહસંમેલન કરે છે. આ રીતનું તેમનું આ તેરમુ સમૂહજીવન હતું. દયાળજી (ચુનીભાઈ) નાગરજી પરિવારના લગભગ ૮૦ જેટલા સદસ્યો છે. તેઓની પાંચ પેઢીના લગભગ ૬૦-૬૫ સભ્યો દર વર્ષે આવે છે. તે માટે તેઓ અમેરિકા - દક્ષિણ આફ્રિકા જેવા પરદેશથી ઉપરાંત ભારતમાં મુંબઈ - પુના - અમદાવાદ - સુરત - બીલીમોરા - વાપી જેવાં શહેરોમાંથી અહીં નિયમિતપણે આવે છે. તેઓને રહેવા માટે કાયમી ધોરણે તેમણે તંબુઓ (Tents) વસાવ્યા છે. ઉપરાંત કુમુદફાર્મની વાડીમાં ડો. હિરેનભાઈ દેસાઈનો બંગલો પણ વાપરે છે. અહીં ૮૫ વર્ષથી માંડીને ૩-૪ વર્ષના બાળકો સહિત બધા જ આવે છે. આ વર્ષે લગભગ ૫૫ વ્યક્તિઓ હાજર હતા. ભાઈઓ અને બહેનો તેમના સમગ્ર પરિવાર સાથે હોંશે હોંશે ભાગ લે છે. ત્રણ-ચાર વેવાઈઓ પણ આ વખતે જોડાયા હતા. ભોજન વ્યવસ્થા : મુકેશભાઈ - મેહુલભાઈ - નીતિનભાઈ - ડો. હિરેન તથા ચારુબેન સાથે મળીને આ વહી...

સીમંત - સીમંતોન્નયન સંસ્કાર

હિન્દુઓમાં લગ્ન પછી મા-બાપ થવાની પહેલી વારની અવસ્થાનું ખૂબ મહત્વ છે. ગર્ભમાં રહેલ બાળકને શુદ્ધ કરવું – પવિત્ર કરવું જરૂરી હોવાથી તે બાબતનું સંસ્કરણ કરવામાં આવે છે. તેથી જીવન દરમ્યાન થતાં સોળ સંસ્કારોમાંથી એક સીમંતોન્નયન સંસ્કાર ખૂબ જરૂરી છે. આ વિધિ ગર્ભાવસ્થાના અંતિમ તબક્કામાં છઠ્ઠા કે આઠમા માહિનામાં કરવામાં આવે છે. બાળક જન્મ પહેલાના સમયગાળામાં માતાની મન:સ્થિતિની સીધી અસર બાળક ઉપર પડે છે – એટલે આનંદોત્સવ મનાવવાથી સ્ત્રીનું મન આ સમય દરમ્યાન પ્રસન્ન રહે છે જેથી બાળક પણ તંદુરસ્ત રહે છે. ઘરમાં બાળક આવવાના સમાચાર માત્રથી સમગ્ર પરિવારમાં ઉત્સાહ અને આનંદનું વાતાવરણ હોય છે અને સૌ આતુરતાથી આવનાર બાળક મહેમાનના આગમનની રાહ જોતાં હોઈ છે. સીમંત વિધિ (ખોળો ભરવો – गोद भराई – Baby Shower) શબ્દસહ સમજીએ તો સીમંત એટલે વાળ અને ઉન્નયન એટલે ઉપર ચઢાવવા. વિધિની શરૂઆતમાં પતિ મંત્ર બોલી પત્નીના વાળ સજાવે છે અને સેંથામાં સિંદુર પૂરે છે. સંસ્કૃત મંત્ર દ્વારા કહે છે : “દેવતાઓની માતા અદિતીના સીમંતોન્નયન સંસ્કાર પ્રજાપતિઓને કર્યા હતા અને અદિતીના પેટે દેવતાઓ જન્મ્યા હતા એમ હું સીમંતોન્નયન શ્રેષ્ઠ અન...

Anavils - An Endangered Community

After Parsis, Anavils ( Anavil Brahmins , અનાવિલ બ્રાહ્મણ ) are the fastest decreasing community. The total population of Anavils around the world does not exceed two lakhs figure and that is also fast reducing day by day. Days are not far, beyond a century or so, when they will have to be seen/found in records, photos, and videos. Why? Because, - they get married too late, - many are dying unmarried, - they wait for the career to be settled before the first (and maybe the only) childbirth. So, The number of children per couple is either one or zero. It is certain that nothing can save this community from extinction - vanishing! Let me try to introduce this community. Batch Of 1969 Reunion - 2022

Reunion is a relatively newly established word that describes getting together and meeting friends of the same study year, or batchmates. Say 1969 was the admission year for MBBS for 75 students in Government Medical College, Surat. After a long gap of 50 years, we decided to meet again in Surat - a reunion! Dr. Uday R Shah initiated and carried forward the planning four months before. Dr. Jitu, Dr. Shubhash, Dr. Nila and Dr. Pragna made an organizing committee of five with Dr. Uday. They declared 11-Sep-2022, Sunday as the final date to meet and Surat as Venue, so all could plan accordingly. List of Attendees Making a list of all 75 batchmates was a very difficult task.
